WHY TO BE SAFE ON A BLOG

Why not put your personal information on a blog? Since a blog is not live, it won't matter if I do put my phone number on or not, right? I mean, that way, more chicks would have a chance to get to know me, so that's OK, right?

Wrong. Yes, they may get to know you, but other people would know you as well. OK, picture this: Someone you have been writing to for months or even years asks you out on a date, say, on the corner of the downtown library or the lawn on her grandmother's house. How about we picture about her grandma's house. Well, you agree, because the person that you have been writing to is a really hot chick. Or so she calls herself. So you go to her grandmother's house, and you look around. You see this nice looking car. An old guy rolls down the window and says, "Are you looking for my granddaughter?" You say yes, and he tells you that she is at her house, not this house. He says to get into his car. You agree, and as soon as you get into the car, the guy locks it, and you cannot get out (you are in the back seat). You realize something: That house that you assumed was the grandma's house was a deserted house. And you realize something else: you were technically dating a very old guy with a sick mind.

If you give someone your phone number, they can find out a lot. They find the first three numbers in a phone number, and they know your whereabouts, and with a little asking about, they have found your house.

If you give someone your address, they are, of course, going to go straight to your house.

If you tell what your school is, they go to your school saying that they are one of your guardians coming to pick you up...you have been discovered by a kidnapper. Think of a nickname, and do not give out any of your personal information...ever.
